CICC Gifts Its Parenting Programs to DC Children’s Trust Fund …And More

The 47-year-old non-profit Center for the Improvement of Child Caring (CICC) Has Gifted Its Parenting Programs, including the Effective Black Parenting Program, to the DC Children’s Trust Fund (DCCTF). Now people will have to contact DCCTF to arrange Instructor Training Workshops and to obtain Program Manuals and Handbooks. Contact Mr. Samuel Tramel, DCCTF’s Executive Director at either (202) 997-9750 or samtramel@yahoo.com.

DO NOT HESITATE – VACCINATE

Because of the continued and increasing vulnerability of African Americans to the Covid-19 Pandemic, including the Delta Variant, it is wise to make the Effective Black Parenting Program more responsive to combating the Pandemic.

This is happening right now by including a new Program Proverb or Saying as part of one of the Program’s major goals: to model and teach healthy physical habits. The new proverb addresses the reluctance of many African Americans to be vaccinated against the virus, which puts them at an even bigger risk – and this thereby is a life and death matter.

So the Program now urges that parents: Do Not Hesitate – Vaccinate. This should begin by them first being vaccinated, so they would then be modeling this healthy approach. Then they should see to it that their children are vaccinated as soon as possible.

As the former First Lady, Michelle Obama said as she was vaccinated recently, “GETTING VACCINATED WILL SAVE LIVES – AND THAT LIFE COULD BE YOURS”.
Sincerely,
Kerby T. Alvy, Ph.D.

A 3rd FREE Parenting Book During Coronavirus for Parents of African American Children

Dr. Kerby T. Alvy and the 46-year-old non-profit Center for the Improvement of Child Caring (CICC) are proud to make another FREE parenting book available worldwide during the current pandemic.

It is now possible to receive The Soulful Parent: Raising Healthy, Happy and Successful African American Children through free digital downloading. This 205-page book is written by Dr. Alvy and three African American journalists who interviewed and wrote about the child-rearing of African Americans.

For a variety of health, socioeconomics and historical reasons, African Americans are being shown to be disproportionately vulnerable to illness and death by the virus. Some of the reasons why they are so scandalously overrepresented is that they already have high numbers of people with the illnesses that predispose people to the virus, including high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. African Americans also are more likely to experience lower levels of access to healthcare.

This book includes interviews with parents who have benefitted from CICC’s national model program for African Americans, the Effective Black Parenting Program. Key features of the program are available for immediate use, such as The Pyramid of Success for Black Children, the distinction between Traditional Black Discipline and Modern Black Self-Discipline, and Effective Praising.
