Learn to Deliver State of the Art Parent Training Programs

Culturally-Relevant  Research-Based  Highly Successful
The Center offers intensive workshops in different cities throughout the United States that are designed to train people who work with parents to deliver state-of-the-art parenting skill building programs.

The complete programs are taught as multiple session classes which give parents time between class sessions to try out the skills at home and receive helpful encouragement and feedback on their use of the skills when they return to the next class session.

Included here is the CICC Trio of National Model parenting skill-building programs. These programs have several common and unique features that make them particularly useful in multi-cultural communities.

There is the general program that has been used successfully with all groups of parents (Confident Parenting). There are two culturally-adapted versions of the program that have been embraced by hundreds of thousands of African and Latino American parents (Effective Black Parenting and Los Niños Bien Educados).

Each program provides parents with a positive approach to child rearing and teaches a set of highly effective parenting skills. The culturally-adapted programs teach the skills in a manner that is consistent and supportive of cultural values and traditions, and includes additional skills and ideas that are culturally affirming.

Another fine parenting program that CICC is providing instructor training to learn to deliver is the Steps to Independence Program for parents of children with special needs.

What people are saying about CICC's Workshops and Programs "The workshop was a peak learning experience and I can't wait to start my first class !"

"The best training workshop I ever attended !"

"Having different staff members from our agency trained to deliver these great programs gave us what we needed to be culturally-sensitive in helping our entire city"

For Agencies, Schools, Churches, and Departments

If you serve multi-ethnic communities, the CICC trio of programs is ideal.
For Individuals

If you are seeking to provide your community with the finest in parent training, any of the programs will help you accomplish your goals. Indeed, by teaching one of these important and research-proven programs, you may increase your attractiveness as a provider of all of the other educational, counseling or therapeutic services that you are qualified to deliver.

Become Certified to Deliver the Programs

Intensive multiple-day workshops provide you with the training and instructional materials to conduct the programs. Led by highly experienced, professional National Trainer-of-Instructors, these workshops give you an opportunity to practice teaching the program's skills. Upon completing the workshops, you immediately become certified to deliver the program in which you were trained.
Receive Continuing Education Credits Toward Professional Licensure Requirements

CICC is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. CICC maintains responsibility for the programs which can be used towards fulfilling licensure requirements. Psychologists nationwide can receive between 18 and 30 hours of continuing education credits toward licensure depending upon the length of the workshop in which they enroll.

CICC is also an approved continuing education provider by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, which means that enrollment in these workshops provides MFT's and LCSW's with CE credits for licensure requirements in California.
Bring a Workshop to Your Community

CICC has recently changed its policies and procedures for conducting parenting instructor workshops in different cities nationwide.

The emphasis now is on Collaborative Workshops where one or more local agencies, schools or government departments partner with CICC in arranging instructor workshops in their area at times and locations that are best for the local group.

This means that if you are part of an agency, school or department that would like its staff trained to deliver a program, you can contact CICC to begin a discussion on how a workshop can be arranged in your community.

Email or call CICC's toll free number 1-800-325-2422 and ask for the Training Department.

If you are an individual who is looking for a workshop for yourself, you can enroll now in one of the workshops that are listed on our Workshop Schedule. Or you can also call CICC's Training Department at the toll free number above.
