Board of Directors

Over its more than quarter century of service to children, parents, families and entire communities, CICC's work has been guided and supported by a volunteer Board of Directors. These highly committed individuals are responsible for setting policy and developing resources for CICC and for representing and advocating for CICC within their particular spheres of influence.

Each Board member serves a minimum of three years, but some have been so committed and effective that they have remained active on CICC's Board for over twenty years. Indeed, Dr. Alvy, CICC's founder and executive director, has been on the Board for all 27 years of CICC's existence and has never missed a Board meeting. Mr. Marshall Lumsden, Board Member Emeritus, a highly respected journalist who edited social and behavioral science publications, was an editor with the Los Angeles Times and was head of Editorial and Pictorial Services for the Atlantic Richfield Company, was active on the Board for 20 years. William Perel, a highly successful businessman from Los Angeles, who initially came on CICC's Board through the urging of his daughter who was volunteering at CICC, has been part of the Board for nearly 20 years.

CICC has also been fortunate to attract key individuals from the corporate world to not only serve on the Board but to take on the added responsibilities of being Chairperson of the Board. Mr. William Ernisse of the Xerox Corporation is an outstanding example. He served with distinction for nearly the entire 1990's.
